First week, Mr Asrizal (our supervisor) brief us on our final year project and what will be expected for this semester.  

There are three ways for us to come out with an idea for this module :
  1. Design Dissertation
  2. UNSDG
  3. Client

I decided to go with UNSDG for my project. I've chosen Goal 12 - Responsible Consumption and Production. 

I chose this topic is because t
he awareness of green packaging concept among Malaysian is still very unsatisfactory. Research showed that people’s purchase intention was influenced by packaging design. Green packaging knowledge, information and visual elements are the deciding factors in attracting consumers to purchase green packed products. 

Problem statement :
Malaysia government has taken to promote green concept as it is essential to understand to what extent the concept has evolved. However, the green concept in Malaysia has not be very significant in Malaysia society due to some reasons. According to Minder Kaur, few reasons that are affecting Malaysian’s preferences of green packaging is consumers’ purchase intention was influenced by packaging design. Hence, green packaging knowledge, information and visual elements are the deciding factors in attracting consumers to purchase green packed products.

Objective :
  • Through this campaign, consumers are more aware and better informed of green packaging concept.
  • To deliver the the information and knowledge of green packaging among Malaysian.
This campaign aimed to reduce the negative environmental and social impacts of packaging. Because
information and visual elements are the deciding factors in attracting consumers to purchase green
packed products, it is important to let people to able to differentiate normal and green packaging at a
glance. Item like posters, sticker and so on can play a very big role on attracting people’s attention.
Through people’s daily purchases of necessities, it is easier to raise the awareness of protecting the
environment through green packaging. At the same time, also make it easier to let people to
differentiate between green and normal packaging.

Idea :
The message of the campaign is to deliver an awareness and education to the demographic aged 18-50
both gender. It is to let people able to differentiate between green packaging and normal packaging.
Through this project, it enables to inadvertently raise environmental awareness. At the same time, also
enhance the green packaging concept among Malaysian.

In order to let people to recognize green packaging from other product packaging, I decided to create an icon with QR code. Then stick on some product that is using green packaging so that people see it will know that is green packaging. This is also to promote green packaging concept in Malaysia and encourage people to use it to protect our environment.
